Avoiding the tentacles of the Octopus

Standard

Having been away from the USA for the past two decades and completing “The China Adventure-

Journey into China, Part I & 2″ (see kindle books under Gary Price at amazon kindle store)-

I finally arrived at Dallas DFW-very gullible and very behind the times. Either America had changed,

or I had, or both.

One of the first important things to do was get a car (which lasted about 4 months before trading it in, figuring it wasn”t ‘me’) and getting internet connection.

I was surprised at the high cost of high speed internet in the USA, plus the many places in the states that still do not have internet access. We were able to access the internet in China, even in the most remote areas.

I went to Verizon and ordered a ‘share everything’ package-hearing a rumor that everything was also shared with an Unconstitutional NSA.  My first bill was over $400 and the second one was over $200.00!  No itemized bill was ever given, plus I had two complaints in with the BBB within the first two months. This being the most I had complained in over two decades, I found this rather daunting.

Then as I was at work (being lucky enough to land any job, I suppose), out of the blue, here comes the phone call from the big V, informing me that I hadn’t paid my $80-which was $40 each connection fee for two I phone 4’s! Well, I had never seen a paper bill, can’t find it itemized on the internet account and learned it wasn’t part of the original $400 which was the size of a mortgage.

I asked the representative when he/she was going to send me a new house, since being with this co. is the same as a bank loan for a car or house.

She only wanted to settle the bill. I offered $20 a week, which was accepted, but honestly this is the first time I had heard of such a bill, never seeing one, and having barely been told about it at the time of ‘agreeing.’

The moral of the story is that to avoid the tentacles of the Octopus, don’t get entangled in the first place. Don’t go into the water, or take the plunge without putting your toe in first and testing the water.

Having said that, I will be glad to put this company behind me.

Welcome back to America…hey! Land of free enterprise, and new world order corporations.
